Enrique Enriquez says there’s magic in mimicry.
To that end, every conversation I host is a spell cast in the hopes that I will one day learn to speak.
If recording a podcast has taught me anything, it’s that speaking is really hard, and editing is even harder, because it means having to listen back to all my dumb questions. The payoff is getting to hear all the brilliant answers that come through, despite me.
This is especially true of my conversation with Enrique Enriquez, a poet who lives in New York and has made a name for himself listening to birds and appearing in strangers’ dreams.
Talking to him felt like getting to spend an hour sitting with the Oracle — I’m still struggling to describe the experience in complete sentences, but I know I’ll be thinking about it for years to come—or it will be working on me for years to come.
